Physical Activity

It is important to take part in physical activity throughout your life, starting young and continuing into older adulthood. Being physically active leads to a healthier, happier you!

The Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines, developed by the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology, give recommended types and amounts of physical activity for people of all ages.

The guidelines also point out how important it is to reduce time being sedentary, or inactive. This includes sitting a lot at work or in front of the TV at home.

If time is a barrier, try to fit in 10 minutes of activity several times throughout the day.

Being active reduces the risk of developing some cancers, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and osteoporosis, physical activity reduces fatigue, stress levels and improves quality of life.
